Quality over quantity or quantity over quality? This place give you both and then some. The slightly high prices are more than justified when your plate arrives with what could probably feed you for a week. Its great food too, with a wide selection of same-day caugh fish, from the simple classics fare of cod and salmon to the seabass and lobster with around twenty different types of fish.

The prices have crept up but this excellent restaurant/caff is Plymouth’s best choice for simply and perfectly cooked fish. A combination of lorry driver’s cafe with music from the local commercial pop radio station but it’s very friendly and always bustling with very happy diners. bench seats often shared, can place you next to a judge and barristers who have slipped out of court for lunch or laughing nine year olds tucking with evident relish to a great plate of fruits do mer.If you live in or visit Plymouth and want fish then this is unmissible.

It’s a great place but suddenly getting too much publicity and rave reviews. It used to be an unspoilt friendly family fish restaurant where you always git recignised, often new a lot of the other customers and invariably had a good time. Unfortunately for us, the last few times we have called in early and mid evening it has been heaving with yank and other tourists who have cottoned on to the novelty features and fine food. Why can’t the coach tours and trippers go to the boring pretentious rip off places just back along Southside Stree or over on North Quay or the approach to barbican leisure park. I want the locals’ Platters back.
